sneezing rants and sailor pants

I have been sneezing all day long. Well, since I got up at 11:15 anyways. It's driving me CRAZY! My eyes itch, my nose itches, my throat itches, then my eyes start watering... then comes the sneeze. It's insane. I took some sudafed. It's not helping much. Fortunately, I'm not running a fever anymore, and I'm not miserable. I was scared I was going to end up lying miserably in bed for a whole week like dear, poor Laura has. Hopefully I'll be all better pretty soon. I have things to do.

What with everyone's being sick, there's been a lot of lounging in front of the television, watching pre recorded stuff from the DVR starring our favorite actors. Gene Kelly and Frank Sinatra, anyone? ;-) Loves em. So, anyway, last night we watched Anchors Aweigh, which was pretty great, in my own humble opinion.

Also great were Kelly and Sinatra's nifty Navy uniforms. There's this imaginary dance scene with Gene Kelly and Jerry Mouse of Tom and Jerry fame, and during the whole sequence I'm sitting there thinking, "those are awesome pants. I want some pants like that!" I know. I'm weird.

It's doubtful I could pull it off (or afford most of what I found), but I did a little search for the modern equivalent anyhow.

Yep. White sailor pants are just pretty cool. However, I do have some wide legged cuffed navy pants that are pretty awesome too, so I'll be content with those. :)

Um. I guess this was really random, but I don't have anything better to do, so I think I'll take my leave, take a shower, and wear my navy pants to make me feel better.
Have a happy weekend!

Updating

I feel terrible for not actually doing much life updating lately. You wouldn't believe how neglected my real journal is. I haven't even opened it in the past month because I don't want to see when the last entry is dated. Helpful, huh?

But I thought while I'm on checking Etsy stuff before I go to bed, I'd let you all know that I haven't died of that stupid cold yet. It still hasn't gone away. It's making me grumpy and uber tired. Yet I keep doing stuff. I went caroling yesterday. With a screechy voice. lol. But I hate to miss all the Christmas fun because I have a cold!! Of course, I think with all this activity and little rest, I'm prolonging it... ah well.

Here's a random picture for a little visual interest. I just dicovered Picnik.

An apology is in order for the neglect of Life Lesson Mondays. This sounds like a lame excuse, but I can't think of any good life lessons. I keep wishing something mildly bad and laughably funny would happen to me. No such luck. And the recesses of my memory aren't serving me well lately, either. I want to continue the series, but if there are no Life Lessons, there can't be a Life Lesson Monday. Unless I sway from my theme of obvious-yet-hilarious, or whatever.

In other news, I followed my better judgement over my heart and did NOT buy one of the adorable budgies on sale at PetSmart. (Vincent would have been SO mad.) My mother, on the other hand, gave into abouding cuteness and purchased the sweetest little red guinea pig. His name is Gimli. Thanks to me. **bows elegantly** We were tossing around names, and Abby went into Lord of the Rings characters. I told her if we were picking a name from LotR, Gimli would be the best guinea pig name. And it kinda fits his smallness and redness. Awesome.

Shopping for my preschoolers was fun. I raided the dollar store. I'm so glad they're all boys. I got dinosaurs, candy, and sugar donuts for everyone.Woo Hoo! And I got a collection of dinosaurs for my classroom. There are two in there now, but they're mean, ugly dinosaurs. I got cute ones. lol I'll have to show you some time. Remind me.

Random Bullets:

  • We had a gingerbread house decorating party on Monday. It went really well.

  • I went to the orthodontist today, and the Dr. said everything was going perfect, and I don't have to have any teefs pulled!

  • Then I went to starbucks and when I ordered, I said my name was Caiti (I always say Caitlin...), and asked for carmel (I always say caramel). Just because I wanted to do something different.

  • My eyes are bothering me right now.

  • Two of my left contact lenses have ripped for no reason, and so now I don't have the same number of left ones as right one left. **Grumpy face**

  • I still need to buy christmas presents for my brothers.

  • Etsy is driving me crazy. I love crocheting, and I love making money, but I am so ready for a break. I can't keep up!

  • I got a compliment on my Etsy banner today, and was asked if I ever considered going into graphics design.

  • I can't wait for my business cards to come!! I'm so disappointed every day when I check the mail and there is no little box for me. :(

  • Dinner and skating Saturday with my SS class is going to be so much fun!

There. I'd say that's a pretty good off-the-cuff blog post. At least now you know what's going on. :)

Dontcha hate it...

**schniffle**
I feel lousy today. I have a mean old cold.
But at least I don't have the stomach bug the rest of my family is down with.

Dontcha hate those days when there's so much to do, and you just can't bring yourself to do it?
You know you should. You wish you felt like it.
But you stand up, and then ... bluuuugh. You just want to sit back down.

But no! Scores of slippers are to be made! The Christmases of so many girls with cold feet rest in my little hook-wielding hands!

...But maybe it can wait til tomorrow?

Because I Want To

I just felt like blogging, so here I am.
Nothing cool to say...
But I'll show you this super awesome dress and tiara I just found.
Well, I thought they were cool, anyways. I wouldn't wear them, though. At least not for my own wedding. Guinever's cool and all, but I don't want to be her.

So. Yeah. In case you were wondering, I'm still sick. In case you didn't know I'd been sick... yep. And now everyone is sick. Except Daddy. I'm sure he will succumb soon. If you're wondering what we're sick with, it's that same nasty flu thing that everyone has been getting lately. Starts with a terrible fever for about 3 days, then you feel like a coughing, congested zombie for another whole week or more. We've watched a lot of movies and a lot of Stargate in the past week. Yay. And my sweet Daddy just folded the mountain of laundry that has accumulated whilst the laundry-doer has been out of comission. (that's me.) I love my Daddy. And I miss the outside world. Although I have had to run a few errands, and I still managed to make it to work. Augh. That wasn't any fun. Aaanyways. No more whining. I'll turn the subject as soon as I come back with a nice mug of herbal tea with honey.

Okay.
In other news, ...um... You know, I can't really think of any other news. The orthodontist wants me to have a couple of teeth out. Yes, that was random. We can call it random blog night. He wants to take out the teeth behind my canines to help fix my overbite. And I guess we'll have my wisdom teeth out while we're at it. Dunno when that'll happen. Sometime, I guess.

More pleasant news. I finally finished reading David Copperfield! Hoorah! Loved it. The ending made me happy. I loved it. I already said that. Oh well. GAH I wish I could write like Dickens!! So good. It was a very sweet story. A feeling narrative with intriguing characters, and lots of different story lines running at once, in and out and through each other. And Dickens' characteristic fog and gloom over the whole thing, lit with brilliant sarcastic wit.

Ouch. Burnt my tongue. Tea still too hot.

So. I'm following American Idol again this year. We'll see how that goes. I have a confession to make. I like the guys better so far. **shrugs** Maybe it's just because guys are cooler in general. But I definitely have some favorites with the girls. The right ones were voted off already. I'll try to keep from doing my Randy Jackson impersonations. I was reading back on my Xanga from a couple years ago, and I was astounded at my immature fandom. Okay, so I wasn't that bad... It was fun, though. I like being silly sometimes, yo.

Vincent has been feeling pretty neglected lately. And I haven't done any photo posts lately. I meant to, a while back, but never did. I was gonna show you the stuff I'd been crocheting. Oh well. At least you got to see a wedding gown and a tiara in this one, right?

I reckon that's enough random rambling for tonight. I commend you if you got through it all. Please commemorate this moment by leaving a comment. :-D Or not.

Have a happy life!
love, me
